We offer fun and affordable dance classes across 3 levels – beginners, intermediate and advanced – in the heart of Washington D.C.

Everyone is welcomed to dance with us

All practicums are taught by the Founder and Art Director of Zharava, Desi Jordanoff. We meet Mondays and Wednesdays for group dance practice from 7 – 9 EST PM on the 2nd floor of the John Wesley African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church located on 14th and Corcoran Street in Washington, D.C. Casual, sport attire is recommended for all practice sessions. In-person, cash payment only.

 

Beginners
Fundamentals and history of Bulgarian folklore dancing, music and culture. No prior dance experience required.
 
Time
Mondays 7 – 8 PM with the option to stay during the intermediate class at 8 – 9 PM
 
Cost
$10 drop-in. First time free of charge. $40 monthly fee due at the First Monday of the Month.

Intermediate
More complex routines with a focus on styling and sharpening technique. Opportunity to perform at local Zharava events with audition.

Time

Advanced
Practicing advanced routines. Expectation to perform at local and international Zharava events. Audition required.

Wednesdays at 8 – 9 PM with the option to join the intermediate class from 7 – 8 PM

Our practice sessions burn on average of 600+ calories with incorporating a diverse range of low and high-intensity cardio through the dance routines. We are always learning new techniques, routines and styling.

This form of social dancing is a great way to get to know your community. Anyone can be part of the Zharava family – we are a diverse group of individuals with a common passion for the art of dance.

Dancing is a hobby that keeps on giving. We offer classes on all levels, so anyone can join (no prior experience is required). Learning the fundamentals of Balkan folklore dancing will come in handy at many points in your life!
